Students
The
"Students" section of the "Teacher Dashboard,"
which is the default view for when the dashboard is opened
each time, is also accessible via the first icon in the
right side navigation menu, as shown in the first mockup,
above. This content area consists of the title heading "Students,"
and a subtitle that shows the number of student accounts
that has currently been created by the teacher, along with
a link that opens the teacher view of the "Leaderboard."
Students
Table
The
"Students Table" is a listing of all student accounts
that the teacher has created, one row for each student,
5 rows at a time . As the teacher hovers over each row,
it shall highlight a different background color. When the
teacher clicks on a student's name, it shall open his or
her "Student Profile." To scroll and view unseen
rows, the teacher can click the top or bottom row, to have
the table move 5 rows at a time, in either direction (assuming
there are more rows to show). When this table first opens,
it should sort students alphabetically, by name (First Name
Last Name), yet also allow for the resorting of students
by four additional data points across the top of the table
(Group, Mastery, Progress, and R-Level). If fewer than four
student accounts have been created, blank rows shall show
in their place.
Group
When
teachers create student accounts, they have the ability
to assign students to up to 8 custom reading groups. A group's
identifier is simply a single digit 1 to 8.
Mastery
This
is the percentage of the overall number of texts the student
has read, for which the student has answered all 3 quiz
questions correctly during a single taking of the quiz.
Progress
Each
student starts using Readingful at an assigned reading level
based on grade level assignment. For example, 4th grade
students begin at 4.00. They gain a specific number of points
(minimum of 0.01) for every quiz question answered correctly
(on the first try), and lose points for every quiz question
answered incorrectly. The specific number of reading level
points assigned to each quiz question is determined by the
"Story Package" upload for each text. Thus, the
student's "Progress" figure is simply how much
(positive or negative) he or she has gone from over a period
of time (specifically over the prior 7 days).
R-Level
This
is the current reading level at which the student is being
served text on Readingful (the student is always served
the version of the text that is closest to his or her reading
level). For example, if the student's current reading level
is 4.68, and there is a level of the text available at both
4.19 and 7.24, the student should be served the 4.19 version,
as it is closest to the student's current, real time reading
level on the platform.
Collective
Data
At
the bottom of the "Students Table" shall sit rows
for showing data collectively. As long as the teacher has
at least two student accounts created, the "All Students"
row shall display, as shown in the second mockup, above.
Each group shall also have its own data set (as long as
at least two students are assigned to said group). Clicking
or tapping on the "All Students" or group name
will open up the "All Students" or group profiles,
which will contain data/options that apply to all students,
or only to groups.
Leaderboard
When
the teacher clicks the "Leaderboard" link in the
subtitle for this content area, the table shall be replaced
with the same "Leaderboard" students see (albeit
of a slightly differnet styling design), along with the
link in the subtitle changing back to the "Student
List," as shown in the third mockup, above. This should
allow the teacher to toggle back, and forth, between the
table, and the leaderboard. The fourth mockup shows how
the data is revealed when the teacher hovers over any students
bar in the graph, just like in the student's section.
